We usually meet at 9:30am at a central location near Castleton. We will send out a map and directions in advance. There may not always be toilets at the meeting point so do stop at one of the many public facilities in the Hope Valley on your way to meet us.
After a short introduction and a quick check you have the essentials for the trip, we'll drive off in convoy to the cave nearby where you’ll change into the caving gear and head underground.
Depending on group numbers and ability, you’ll finish around 1:30pm, but due to the physical nature of these trips, it is possible you will finish up to an hour later.
No prior caving experience is required, just the desire to push your own boundaries and experience something new. Vertical Adventure Caving is a highly physical activity, if unsure please contact us to discuss individual suitability.
You will be required to crawl at times but will never need to ‘squeeze’ unless choosing to.
You may walk through thigh deep water but will never need to swim or be submerged.
You should be physically able to climb ladders and scramble.
Expect to be in a cold, wet environment.
