For half day activities we meet at 9:30am at a central location near Hope. We will send out a map and directions in advance. There may not always be toilets at the meeting point so do stop at one of the many public facilities in the Hope Valley on your way to meet us.
After a short introduction and a quick check you have the essentials for the trip, we'll drive off in convoy to the cave nearby where you’ll change into the caving gear and head underground.
Depending on group numbers and ability, you’ll finish between 12:30pm and 1:00pm.
No prior caving experience is required, just the desire to push your own boundaries and experience something new. Caving is a moderate to high physical activity, if unsure please contact us to discuss individual suitability.
You will be required to crawl at times but will never need to ‘squeeze’ unless choosing to.
You may walk through knee deep water but will never need to swim or be submerged.
We may climb ladders or scramble up short climbs or over boulders.
Expect to be in a cold, wet environment. Clothing advice can be found here.

Join Peak Instruction on a trip into the dark, magical places beneath the surface on a quick hit caving activity session. You'll visit one of the Peak District's amazing caves or mines and explore deep into the 350 million year old landscape, learning about geology and having a unique adventure.
No previous experience is needed and this activity can be enjoyed by anyone 10 years or above. The caving can be quite physical but normal fitness levels will be fine.
A certain amount of crawling is part of the experience.
The half day caving activity will involve a trip into a predominately horizontal cave or mine system. Depending on which cave we visit, cavers may come across scrambles, short roped climbs, wet passages, mud and the option to try some squeeze challenges or longer, more physical sections of caving passage.
A half day caving trip is perfect for anyone who has never caved before, a family or small group wanting a bit of activity and entertainment or anyone with a few hours to spend having an adventure. We keep our groups small so it feels like a very personal service, you’ll be part of group of up to a maximum of 8 people looked after by a qualified instructor.
Ignore the stereotype of scary, tight, dangerous caving presented by the media and find out for yourself what it is really like down there. You’ll be amazed at the environment beneath your feet.
