Please being clothing appropriate the great outdoors including waterproofs and trainers or walking boots.
Please wear old clothing. Although very much under control, fire spits and hot embers can make holes or melt synthetic fabrics like GoreTex. We cannot be responsible for fire damage to personal clothing and belongings. Also remember your clothes will smell smokey after the activity.
Long hair needs to be tied back for fire lighting.

These sessions are designed as coaching blocks to allow people to spend time concentrating on a particular skill set. The workshop sessions are a mix of topics and levels. The day, time and duration will vary from workshop to workshop. They are open to all comers, be they previous clients or not.
The level of the course will vary depending on subject, for full details see the specific session description. We will cover a variety of subjects on our Bushcraft Basics days if a general introduction is more what you are looking for.
Fire Lighting Skills Workshop
A session spent looking at the building and lighting of small fires. Perfect for those with the desire to increase confidence in their ability to light fires with matches, lighters and fire steels. Suited to both individuals and groups and families - makes a great bonding activity.
Topics covered may include - Preparing the ground, preparing fuel & understanding the different stages of the fire’s growth from ember to blaze, 1 match fires.
Under 18’s must be accompanied. 2.5 hour workshop @ the Whaley Bridge woods - £TBC
A session spent looking at the bowdrill method of firelighting. Understand the collection and construction of the components and getting the chance to try with tested kits from our store.
We have a team drill set, pairs drills and individual sets to have a go at.
Basic knife skills and safety awareness is needed for this workshop.
2.5 hour workshop for beginners and improvers - £TBC
As well as teach you the skills we can equip you with the items you need to continue practicing. All necessary equipment will always be provided as part of our courses however, should you wish to continue practicing at home, we sell the equipment needed. You can order with your course booking or (if stocks allow) purchase during your course. We currently stock: Mora Companion SS knifes, LMF Scout 2.0 firesteels and Fresnel lens magnifiers. We can also source axes and other equipment for more specialist courses.
